Born in Romania in 1984 and grew up in New York City, Ionescu is an artist based between Paris and New York. He received a Bachelor of Architecture from Pratt Institute and later served as an adjunct professor in the School of Architecture at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute from 2010 to 2016. Drawing on this diverse background, he continues to produce work across sculpture, painting, design, and architecture.

Ionescu’s practice is grounded in an intensive drawing methodology. His works are characterized by distinctive lines, vivid colors, and cartoon-like gestures that merge anthropomorphic and abstract forms. Moving fluidly between scales and shapes, they cultivate a sense of intuitive play and constant transformation.
