Prima Materia
Weight: ~30 kg
Material: different types of stoneware / firing temperature 1160 degrees
Prima Materia examines how play — as practice, memory, and cultural structure — shapes identity and our relationship to material, employing ceramics as the primary field of experimentation. Building on the premise that childhood is the foundational reference of the self and that toys act as instruments of cognitive, social, and emotional becoming, the project turns clay play‑objects into affective anchors: works that evoke gestures, states, and emotional survival strategies. The installation proposes an intimate route where small groupings, warm lighting, and tactile accents recreate the sense of safety associated with childhood, inviting the viewer to recognize fragments of personal memory and to reflect on how materiality shapes the self.
