The Fleeting Moment

Alin Carpen presented by Scemtovici & Benowitz Gallery
Iron; 30 x 30 x 270 cm
RAD 2025

The rust within the artwork represents the passing moments of human life. Iron needs air and water to gradually corrode over time, eventually leading to its complete decay. This natural process of corrosion closely mirrors the human passage through time.

about the artist

Alin Carpen

Alin Florin Carpen is a sculptor who graduated from the "Ion Mincu" University of Architecture and Urbanism in Bucharest in 2000 and later completed a Master's degree in Sculpture from the National University of Arts in Bucharest in 2015.

Alin Carpen believes that each person's experiences are unique and shaped by their individual perspective on life. Existence teaches us that the future is unpredictable. He holds that everyone who lives leaves behind a humble trace, and, in time, someone may (re)discover in these modest marks the profoundness, the revelation of time, and our existence within it.
