The sculpture is a nuanced reference to the cult of consumerism without moral or ethical considerations; it is an anti-monument to superficiality and carelessness. It is a memorial column, erected in memory of the price paid for the a priori comfort and well-being of our existence. The work is free of the artist's imprint, implicitly the artist's ego: in essence, it is untouched by any attempt at artistic parasitism, which is typical of monuments erected in memory of an important idea, event or personage.
