You through me, me through me
Ana Ion Leonte is a Romanian-American multidisciplinary artist living and working in Tampa, Florida. She received her B.F.A. from Alfred University, New York, in 2023 and her MFA from the University of South Florida, where she also teaches sculpture and ceramics. Leonte has exhibited internationally, with gallery exhibitions in Florida, Atlanta, New York, and Bucharest, as well as an institutional exhibition at Museum of Contemporary Art Jacksonville in Jacksonville, Florida.
Having spent much of her life moving between Romania and the United States, her personal history has profoundly informed her visual language, shaping a sculptural practice grounded in tactility, instinct, and response. Clay remains at the core of her work—an anchor to materiality and a quiet resistance to immateriality—reflecting the dual cultures and clashing value systems she inhabits. Her forms and ideas emerge from continuous observation of the dark and exuberant tensions within nature’s shifting power dynamics.
