Gaep
Gaep is a Bucharest-based contemporary art gallery with a programme that reflects various sociopolitical contexts and different generational positions.
Founded in 2014 by Andrei Breahnă (cultural manager) and Raluca Șoaita (architect), the gallery was initially named Eastwards Prospectus and focused on artistic practices from Eastern Europe. In 2019, it changed its name into Gaep to become consistent with the new international nature of the programme.
Over the past 11 years, Gaep presented 48 exhibitions and participated in 31 international art fairs. Awards and nominations include: Radio România Cultural Award 2020, for Marilena Preda Sânc’s exhibition Subjective (De)Constructions, and Opening Prize at ARCOmadrid 2019 with a solo presentation by Ištvan Išt Huzjan.
