
Cristina Bută
Cristina Bută (born 1992, Timișoara) is a contemporary art curator and writer with a background in cultural analysis. After studying cultural analysis and curating in Amsterdam, she worked as a curator in training at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, focusing on the major solo shows of Maria Lassnig and Walid Raad (AICA Prize 2020). In 2023, she was part of the curatorial team of the 5th edition of the Art Encounters Biennial in Timișoara, My Rhino Is Not A Myth. art science fictions. Informed by her background, Cristina's interests surround topics of decolonization and feminism. Being based in Bucharest in the last years, she developed several group and solo exhibition projects, as artistic director of Sector 1 Gallery (2021-24). As an independent curator, she works in collaboration with artists, galleries and cultural institutions and represents 1/4 of the newly formed Romanian curatorial collective the manybody. She has been involved in RAD Curatorial from its pilot edition, resuming as of 2025 a role in its creation as Associate Curator.
