Jaana Heine

Curator — Kunsthaus Hamburg

Jaana Heine is a cultural theorist and curator who bridges critical discourse with accessible engagement through a reciprocity-driven, artist-led approach. Since 2023, she has been part of the curatorial team at Kunsthaus Hamburg: a participatory exhibition venue, place of artistic production and platform for the discussion and reflection of cultural policy. Their recent international group exhibition Politics of Love explored intimacy, the common good, and plural perspectives through diverse artistic mediums and experiences. She develops performative and participatory public programming emphasizing collaboration and co-creation. Previously, Heine was an artist liaison at neugerriemschneider, Berlin, managing exhibition and fair projects for internationally acclaimed artists such as Mario García Torres, Shilpa Gupta, Renata Lucas, Antje Majewski and Mike Nelson. At top, she co-curated the group exhibition and performance project Like Water, questioning the intricate relationship between gender and rage. Her practice is informed by an educational background in cultural studies, comparative literature and art theory. She lives and works between Berlin and Hamburg.
