Marcos Jinguba
Marcos Jinguba (Luanda, 1995) is a writer, art curator, and cultural manager currently based in Johannesburg, South Africa. He works as an independent curator and collaborates with various art organizations, allowing him to be active in the Angolan scene and connect with other artistic circles on the continent and around the world. He develops his curatorial practice through a critical look at social and political issues in the global south, such as gender and race democracy, reexamining history, decolonial practices, artistic production, and cultural heritage. Through these approaches, he has promoted and worked on articles about art, artist residencies, opportunity platforms, exhibitions, fairs, film screenings, lectures, and cultural management.
Marcos is a mentor and founder of the cultural production and promotion agency Kianda Sessions and a member and co-founder of Laboratório de Crítica e Curadoria, a platform for research and sharing of curatorial and critical practices. Marcos was resident curator at the MOVART contemporary art gallery in Luanda and contributed to publications by the Arak Collection. He is currently the founder of Kianda Contemporary Art Project, a curatorial and project production studio.
Marcos Jinguba is the official pseudonym of Marcos Cristóvão Kingongo.
