Marijn Bril
Marijn Bril (she/her) is an independent curator and researcher based in Rotterdam. In her practice, she explores the entanglements of art, media, and technology. Through exhibitions, discursive programs, essays, and lectures, she explores topics such as systems, productivity, memes, artistic strategies, and knowledge production. Bril has collaborated with institutions including IMPAKT (Utrecht), CIVA Festival (Vienna), imai (Düsseldorf), iii (The Hague), MU (Eindhoven), The Wrong Biennale (online), ZKM (Karlsruhe), iMAL (Brussels), V2_ (Rotterdam), and Air Berlin Alexanderplatz (Berlin). Her talks and essays have been featured by Mister Motley, Archined, VIEW Journal, and the Institute of Network Cultures. In 2025, she was the recipient of the Garage Rotterdam Prize for Young Curators.
Alongside her curatorial work, she serves as an advisor to Stichting Cultuur Eindhoven (the municipal culture council), the Creative Industries Fund NL (digital culture grant scheme) and CBK Rotterdam (practice contribution grant scheme).
Bril obtained an Erasmus Mundus Joint Excellence Master's degree in Media Arts Cultures (Universities of Krems, Aalborg, and Łódź), where she wrote her thesis about curatorial research and knowledge production. Before that, she completed a pre-Master in Media Studies (Maastricht University) and a Bachelor of Arts (Design Academy Eindhoven).
