RAD Art Fair introduces The Gold Standard Prize by Mexim

This year, RAD Art Fair introduces The Gold Standard Prize by Mexim, a new initiative that brings a tangible gesture of support into the context of the fair. As part of the prize, Mexim will acquire one of the artworks presented at RAD — using gold as a symbolic and material token of exchange.

Positioned somewhere between patronage and proposition, the prize reflects on value, trust, and what it means to invest in artistic practice today within the framework of a contemporary art fair. By choosing gold — historically loaded, materially stable, and culturally charged — the gesture shifts the act of acquisition into a more visible and deliberate statement, foregrounding the physicality of value in a space often defined by abstraction.

The selected work will become part of Mexim’s collection, marking the beginning of what could evolve into an ongoing commitment to supporting artists through direct acquisition at future editions of the fair.
