''Some bite clocks, I stretch time and set it in place'' is an intervention meant to be sat on. The longer one sits on it, the more the bench’s pattern imprints small artworks onto the backs of their thighs—pieces to take and carry for just a short while.

Messages like “don’t let too much weigh you down,” “take some time for yourself,” “sometimes you just need to sit,” and a very precise clock that says “NOW” are transferred onto the skin of those wearing shorts who have the patience for this exercise.

A bench for seating the child within you—who, most likely, wouldn’t have sat still long enough for the bench to leave its mark.

about the artist

Andreea Samoilă

Andreea Samoilă (Imminent Detour) is an independent designer and editor, as well as a visual artist. She is interested in objects, words, and tools that are not used “by the book,” and the predictable as well as unpredictable ways in which people use things inspire her to notice something surprising in objects and ideas that are otherwise overly familiar. Andreea creates books, graphics, and actions that form unexpected associations, wordplays, and play with the concept of the “mundane.”
