ETAJ Artist-run space

E T A J is an artist-run space founded in 2018 by Mircea Modreanu, conceived as a catalyst that examines the efficiency and agency of the contemporary art object within the local context. From its beginning, E T A J has functioned as a cultural cell, bringing together artists who organize themselves through shared interests, affinities, and collaborative structures rather than fixed institutional models. The space supports both individual and collective practices, with a strong focus on experimentation, process-based work, and critical reflection. Its format remains intentionally fluid, shaped by the trajectories of the artists involved and by the connections formed between them. Operating outside conventional frameworks, E T A J proposes alternative modes of production, presentation, and exchange, emphasizing autonomy, adaptability, and an ongoing negotiation between artistic practice and its social, cultural, and economic environment.
